Personal

My name is Nicholas Hart. I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. I am in my mid-thirties and live on Capitol Hill, overlooking downtown Seattle. I have diabetes, but I am fortunate to be able to control it by staying active and eating healthy. I have a car, but I usually walk to work. It's good exercise, it saves money and reduces traffic. Currently the only "lady" in my life is Charlotte.

I've got an entire section on my interests, if you'd like to know what makes me tick.

Professional

I am a senior software engineer for a local software company—not the behemoth in Redmond. I'm good at my job and I enjoy it. I get to use my problem solving skills to create some cool music software. I have a good work environment, flexible hours, free music, health insurance and lots of vacation time. It's still work, but I think I'm quite fortunate. I write most of my code in C++ and Python.

Education

I attended the University of Washington and graduated in 1996 with honors, a B.S. in computer science and a minor in math. The most interesting project I worked on was a computer animation entitled Fish Schtick, as part of a groundbreaking new course offered jointly between the computer science, music and art departments. The animation was also featured in a collection of short films at the Seattle International Film Festival.

I attended University Heights Elementary (which is now a community center), Madrona Elementary, Washington Middle School, and graduated from Garfield High School in 1992.
